Richard N. Hughes- BA, CA, ICD.D - Chief Financial Officer
Prior to his retirement in 2011, Richard Hughes held the position of Director of Finance, Alberta Pensions Services Corporation. A high integrity, energetic professional with 35 years of business experience, Richard can recognize, envision and create successful outcomes in complex situations. His diverse industry and functional expertise, and commitment to working collaboratively in leadership and governance, has afforded him the opportunity to reinforce the success of many organizations and people. Richard joined Exciton as a consultant in October, 2011 and is an experienced in house financial adviser. He has held vice president and CFO appointments: Alberta Pacific Forest Industries Inc., Edmonton Oilers, Liquor Barn Income Fund, & notably Nucryst Pharmaceuticals Corp.- at their Alberta based Acticoat manufacturing plant. A graduate of the Directors Education Program (DEP), offered by the Institute of Corporate Directors-ICD / Rotman School of Management, Richard has been on a dozen profit and not for profit boards over his career. He is a University of Waterloo graduate who has worked through many acquisitions and divestitures.
