Rod Precht, the founder of Exciton, has extensive knowledge of the therapeutic anti-microbial properties of metals and has considerable experience in using these metals in the manufacture of medical devices. His extensive knowledge of the wound-care medical devices industry and his knowledge of nanocrystalline technologies have positioned him well to direct this company. He has leadership skills and the expertise in novel chemical and metallurgical processes to create value-added medical device products with superior medical efficacy and structural integrity and to ensure that these products will be competitive in the market place. Mr. Precht graduated in 1992 with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, Edmonton and has been involved with the medical device industry for the past sixteen years. As product development manager at Nucryst Pharmaceuticals Inc., he was directly involved as a pioneer in the development of the Acticoat® silver-coated dressing product line, exSALTTM’s largest competitor. He was also responsible for the design and commissioning of a commercial-scale silver sputtering process, one of the largest of its kind. Mr. Precht is listed as a co-inventor of several US and international patents and patent applications.
