Dr. Robert Rennie, Site Chief, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, at the University of Alberta has been invited to make a poster presentation at the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases conference in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Rennie's presentation will focus on Exciton's SILVAsan™ product and its ability to effectively prevent the spread of both MRSA and P. aeruginosa on inanimate surfaces within a hospital setting while not presenting any environmental, worker or patient issues.

Exciton received authorization from Health Canada to proceed with Investigational Testing of the exsalt™ SD7 Wound Dressing. The clinical trial is expected to enroll 25 patients comparing the safety and efficacy of exsalt™ SD7 Wound Dressing in reducing healing time and improving the quality of healing of a standard partial-thickness donor site wound to Xeroform® Petrolatum Dressing. The trial will take place at the Firefighters' Burn Treatment Unit, University of Alberta Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Edward Tredget, Director of the Plastic Surgery Research Laboratory.

Funds from this program were used to hire a full-time Research Scientist dedicated to the development of next-generation products to add to the Company’s portfolio.
